Swen Thissen becomes new Editor-in-Chief of watson.de

Kinga Rustler moves to the Ströer Content Group where she will be Director of Content

Swen Thissen will be the new Editor-in-Chief of watson.de from January 2022. He succeeds Kinga Rustler, who took over at the helm of the website in April 2019 and established it as the no. 1 news portal for the young generation.

Thissen arrives from stern.de, where he currently heads up the digital editorial team. Previously, he succeeded in driving forward audience development at the website, first as Head of Social Media and then as Head of Distribution.

Remaining in the Ströer Group family, Rustler is moving to the Ströer Content Group to become Director of Content. In this role, she will be responsible for overarching tasks, including for the media brands t-online, watson, giga.de, kino.de, desired.de, and familie.de.

Marc Schmitz, CEO of the Ströer Content Group: “We are delighted to welcome Swen Thissen, a proven digital expert, as Editor-in-Chief of watson, where he will help us continue to follow the course that we have set. We are indebted to Kinga and her team for their dedicated and highly successful work over the past few years, a period in which they established watson as the leading news brand for young adults and a published voice that carries weight across Germany.”

About watson.de
watson is the leading news brand for young adults throughout Germany. Ströer Next Publishing GmbH provides the editorial content for watson.de.

The watson team's self-image is to be at eye level with its young target group - 20 to 36-year-olds. Up-to-the-minute reporting and a narrative style in which the journalists show face and attitude are intended to create transparency and proximity to the young audience. This also means informing far away from the "nice feel-good stories" and giving a lot of space to on-the-spot reporting.
