Ströer takes over Goldbach’s activities in Poland

Ströer has completed its takeover of the Goldbach Group’s successful Polish online business. The deal marks the finalization of Goldbach’s withdrawal from the Eastern Europe market.

Goldbach is currently Poland’s second-largest advertising network, after Google, with 20 million unique users and over 800 websites, 450 of which under exclusive marketing agreements. Even with such a strong market position, Goldbach considers it difficult to provide advertising clients with enough relevance in an increasingly consolidated Polish advertising market on its own.

In order to cement the market position of its Polish advertising network, Goldbach has decided to sell its online business in Poland to the Ströer Group, a leading provider of out-of-home and online advertising in Poland. “Over the past two years, Goldbach has made great strides in its Polish online business,” says Roland Wittmann, CSO of the Goldbach Group. “That’s why we are delighted to have a found such a strong and experienced company to secure the business moving forward.”

The Ströer Group is confident it has made the right strategic decision by buying Goldbach’s online business in Poland. “This acquisition is another important step towards expanding our cross-media market position in Poland,” says Christian Schmalzl, COO of Ströer SE.

Goldbach is pressing ahead with its strategy to focus on business activities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH region), which it launched in 2014.

The transaction is set to be closed in the first quarter of 2016; the parties have concluded a confidentiality agreement on the purchase price.
