Ströer expands public video network to 500 Infoscreens in Germany

In December 2017, Ströer put the 500th Infoscreen system into operation in Cologne. Ströer now has a total of around 4,500 digital screens in Germany, including a public video network in the largest underground and suburban railway stations, mainline stations and shopping centres. With the public video network at the stations and in the shopping malls, Ströer offers its customers the opportunity to draw attention to themselves in the immediate vicinity of the POS. Since the beginning of last year, Ströer has massively advanced the expansion of its digital advertising media offering with Mall Video, Station Video, Infoscreen and roadside screens. By the end of 2017, around 150 new Infoscreen systems had been installed. Information screens are currently available for advertisers in 19 cities in Germany. Info screens are installed in the direct waiting area at the underground and suburban railway tracks and have a long viewing time and acceptance by the viewer.

"The idea of offering passers-by a welcome entertainment consisting of editorial content and advertising in order to reduce the perceived waiting time in the track area has been very well received by our customers. Due to high customer demand, we have expanded our plant portfolio by more than 40 percent to currently 500 plants nationwide," says Alexander Stotz, CEO of Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH. "In the coming years we will continue to develop the digital out-of-home genre and invest in the expansion of the network.

Infoscreen, the digital large screen area at the highly frequented underground and suburban railway stations, looks back on more than 20 years of development. On February 15, 1994, the first screen was put into operation at the Odeonsplatz underground station in Munich. This was also the starting signal for digital outdoor advertising in Germany. Since then, the concept of reaching people in public spaces has been constantly expanded by new digital advertising media and locations through Ströer. Information screens offer entertainment and advertising on the platform and are perceived by waiting passengers as added value due to the high-quality, varied and city-related content. Due to the low-stimulus environment and the waiting situation, a high level of attention is achieved.
